Peppermint Foot Cream

Peppermint Foot Cream.JPG

I have been trying to get ready for a women’s retreat that is taking place this weekend.  I always like to gift a few items to some of the women that I know will be there working with me. This time I thought I would try make some Peppermint Foot Cream.

I found this recipe a few years back on someone’s site…..I have no idea anymore whose site it was.  So I apologize for not putting a link in here to your site if this is your recipe. Back when I hand wrote this recipe into my essential oil recipe notebook I was not blogging and did not see the need to write my source down as I was going to make them just for personal use.

When you are going to attempt this cream it is a good thing to assemble what you will need. I have found I feel a lot more organized when I do this.

Ingredients & bowls.JPG

The recipe is as follows:

Peppermint Foot Cream
1/4 cup Shea Butter (I bought it here)
1/4 cup Coconut Oil (purchased at local grocery store)
2 Tablespoon Olive Oil (local grocery store)
15 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (buy yours here)
Melt Shea & Coconut Oil
Add:
Olive Oil and stir
Let cool and add Peppermint EO
Beat till smooth and creamy

I have found that if I microwave water in a bowl ,
I can put my Shea butter and Coconut oil in a small stainless steel bowl,
set it in the bowl of boiling water, and it will melt easily.  (See photo above)
Once the oils have been mixed I place the stainless bowl
in my freezer for approximately 5-7 minutes.
Once it has cooled and the edges have started to solidify
I remove, add the essential oil and use my Kitchenaid hand mixer to whip.

This recipe makes 4 oz. of cream. I like to put it into 4 containers (1 oz.) for gift giving.

This foot cream smells amazing!  It also feels wonderful. The peppermint seems to warm your feet and the Shea butter and coconut oil do wonders for moisturizing the dry areas on your heels and ankles.

I made this for my sister-in-law last year. She made the mistake of using it on her feet right before she went to her yoga class. She said her feet felt wonderful, they smelled wonderful, but…….they would not grip the yoga mat and she kept sliding off.  (I really wish she had gotten a video of that!)

It is kind of fun to make your own spa-type products. Some of them turn out better than others…..and that is half the fun. If you give this recipe a try, let me know how it turned out for you.

“Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God.
But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved
and by those who are perishing.”

    Cooo this sounds really lovely.

erm … does it, by any chance, come with a tall, dark, handsome to rub the cream into my delicate little feet and toes?
Not saying that I don’t sometimes get Himself to rub cream into my feet and legs (and boy what a treat it is when it’s being done for me) …but thinking that if it’s a womans re-treat, then we won’t be taking our husbands with us – so it would be a rather nice touch if there was a tall, dark and handsome, of the right age, who doesn’t talk about the jobs he’s done in the garden, and how starving hungry he is, and doesn’t give up the massaging the minute he gets bored .. this would be such a nice little touch.

LOL. Yes I did go to the retreat. I was in charge of housekeeping and on my feet all day. (I am pretty much ready for a foot massage!)
It was a Christian women’s retreat so there was no massaging of feet by other men tall dark and handsome or other wise. You made me laugh like crazy…..I had to read your comment to my husband and he just started laughing.
The retreat was amazing. Time spent with women and God. I was in the group of those who had been to this retreat before and we were the workers. Our job was to pamper the new ladies so they could listen to talks and realize how much God cares for them and values them……all in all an amazing weekend.

Absolutely brilliant! What a wonderful way to connect and re-connect, not just with other Christian ladies, but also with God, … and in such a great environment!
The girls who attend must come home feeling lighter, uplifted and loved. Be they those who were pampered, or those doing the pampering.

A truly beautiful thing for truly beautiful reasons, and with truly beautiful women.
Sending love from my corner to yours,
and a message for Mr.Chicken … psssstt. Pssssst!! She needs a footrub Mr. Chicken! [and it will earn you brownie points!]

This sounds really good. I tried making hand cream a couple of years ago, with mixed results. I broke one mixer so tried using a hand blender instead. The mixtures was too runny I think and as the blender was a bit more vigorous, then whole kitchen got spattered with coconutty oily gloop. Took hours to clean. It smelled good though.

Thank you for sharing this! I’ve never tried making anything like this, but it’s not that easy to find 100% natural creams with good fragrances… Do you store it refrigerated?

We have small collection of essential oils and use them in our aroma diffuser.
