My dad would say this post is “a day late and a dollar short.” I am not sure about the dollar short, but yes; it sure is a day late!
Blame it on the busyness (only I can’t, because yesterday was a snow day and they are slow). Blame it on the weather (Once again I can’t cause it was a snow day and we couldn’t really do anything outdoors anyway.) Blame it on…….naaaaaaaa, let’s not blame it on anything.
No excuses…..just no post yesterday. And to be honest I really haven’t anything amazing for today either! Once again……oh well….sometimes life is just like that……ho hum. Though sometimes in the ho hum you can find a small gem of truth….if you look hard enough. Yesterday I just did not feel like looking.
Today, I half-way felt like looking and kind of talked myself out of it. Have you ever done that? I have, however, been listening to one of my favorite CDs and thought this would be a great time to share one of my favorite songs on the Matt Maher album – Saints and Sinners.
The song is called Firelight and I thought I would not only share the music video but also the lyrics so that you can sing along. I hope this song blesses you as much as it blesses me. It speaks to those arid, desert places that can sometime be a season of life you go through. It speaks to the longing in our hearts to make a difference in this world…..a difference that is eternal.
May you be blessed in the desert, if that is where this weekend finds you. May you be blessed in the lush oasis if that is where you are. And may you be blessed if you find yourself somewhere in between those two….somewhere in the everyday, ho-hum of life.
“Firelight”
I bear a sadness deep inside
I’m aching for a faith in things I strain to feel
I need to know that you are real
Oh Savior open up my eyes
I wanna see You like a child
There is a haze on the horizons of my heart
Dear Jesus show me where you are
Be my firelight, be my firelight
Burning fierce and bright, be my firelight
How do I move on and be free
From all these things that I have seen
All of my memories are turning into scars
Oh my God put back what’s been torn apart
Be my firelight, be my firelight
Burning fierce and bright, be my firelight
If anyone remembers my name
If I’m ever known for anything
Let it be I ran into the night
Running with a firelight, firelight
Cause I don’t wanna stroll the streets of gold
While there’s still a soul to love
Let me run into the night
Running with a firelight, firelight
Burning with a firelight, firelight
Matt Maher
Let my tongue sing of Your word,
For all Your commandments are righteousness.
Psalm 119:172
Thank you for “lifting” me. It is comforting to know others feel as you sometimes do. He lifts us and guides us to lift others. PS. I am fortunate to know your son..he is a gem. 💇

Thank you so much! Yep, sometimes life just gets different and all you can do (or at least all I can do) is put the music on and go with it.
And which son do you know? Love hearing about those guys!

Such a beautiful song! I can’t figure put why I have not ever heard it! Where I have been? The song is so calming and reassuring…places us where we need to be…remembering what we really knew all along! Have a happy and peaceful Sunday playing in the snow…or just looking out at the snow! No snow here! What’s new about that? Feeling a little cool (almost cold) at 58 degrees. So sorry…had to say it!!!!!!!

The first time I heard this song was at RISE fest in Sheldon, Iowa this past year. I went right over to the merch tent and bought the CD “Saints and Sinners” because that song was on it. I also really like the title of the album!
You made me laugh about the 58 degrees! I am glad someone has warmer than us. Today is really sunny and I suspect will melt a lot of snow. Friday night, on our way home from our son we took the gravel roads due to icy black tops. We ended up having to scoop our way out of a snowdrift due to getting stuck!

The black top roads near our farm get very icy and you really cannot tell that they are really slippery! We can go some places on gravel roads, but not much. The road in front of the farm house is a Farm to Market so it is kept sort of clear. After all, the milk trucks for the dairies have to travel safely! However…how often does it really get icy down here??? No real snow this year at all…much to my disappointment! I imagine that it took a long while to get out of that snowdrift! I hope you both were all bundled up!! I would have bought the CD right away too. I am going to look for it. I don’t know about Rise fest, but I imagine it is wonderful! I will look up Sheldon, Iowa. I am going to be an expert on Iowa and happenings in Iowa!!!

Sheldon is a town about 26 miles to the southeast of us. Every year a guy named Rob Rozeboom puts together a Christian music festival called RISEfest. He also runs RISE ministries. It is awesome and has speakers and Christian artists. Last year we heard Mark Schultz, Crowder, Matt Maher and more.

I feel your pain on cyberspace sucking up your comment! I have had that several times…..with the same comment. I started to wonder if I was supposed to comment anything or just let it go…..I persevered…..maybe that was my lesson. Your comments are always important Beverly! I love hearing from you.

So…I know so much about Sheldon, Iowa now! What a nice town! I read about the Rise fest and it sounds wonderful…especially for Father’s Day weekend! The website said that Danny Gokey, a finalist on American Idol several years ago is going to perform. I really like his voice! Also MercyMe is going to perform! I even looked at the City of Sheldon page and the real estate listings (I am at Mike’s office while he finishes some work…so I can’t see what things I need to do around the house!). I have found the cutest house ever to buy…if only I lived up there in the ice zone. If you know someone looking for a house…this is a good one. It is $104,500…I promise that if this house were near TCU in Fort Worth that it would be $500,000 and up! Makes me distressed! Look at the house online if you get a chance…this is fun for me…I love to look at houses! 423 9th Street, Sheldon…built in the 1920s I think!!!

You should buy a home here :). Our real estate is so much cheaper and everything else is also. Plus we could hang out, go to antique stores and just generally be us……Mike and Lar might find that scary but they would adjust.
I cannot wait to hear Mercy Me this year. Just heard a Danny Gokey song on the radio!

The guys in Mercy Me are from Greenville…east of Dallas! Ironical that you should hear a Danny Gokey song! He is great! Yes…we should move. We would get in so much trouble, but have lots of fun. Mike and Lar could go look at old tractors and parts to tractors and just junk. They would forget what we happen to be doing…like going to garage sales and antique stores and just visiting with people!

In order to see the incredibly neat house, you have to go to the Security Realty website. The other sites like Zillow etc say that the house is off the market and I don’t think that they include the interior pictures! I realize that you think I am crazy! That is OK!!!!!!

Nope not crazy, just a good fit in my family. My son always send photos of interiors of houses he has made the cabinets for. I love looking at houses and what they do with them.

Beautiful song and lyrics. I try to post every day, but sometimes, I just come up dry too. God Bless. (Laughing at myself, when I wrote bless, it came out bells…I fixed it, but wonder if I should have left it and left you guessing what I was trying to say.) 😀

I’ve never heard this song before Chicken. It’s lovely! In fact … I’m still hearing the tune inside my head! Or is it my heart? Well, wherever it is, it’s a grand feeling.
Thank you for the share.

All is well. Just a little bit of stuff going on. I am preparing for some “lady” surgery next week and I am just trying to get things ready over here so the household runs smoothly while I recuperate :).
