Sometimes when you are feeling not so great it is good to open your eyes to the things of beauty that are around you. That is what I did today. My husband put the patio chairs with cushions on the deck. Today he set them in the sun just for me.
It felt so good to just sit there in the sun, listening to the wind blowing through the bare trees, and feeling that same breeze slide over my skin. It was cold and I had to wear my coat and cover my legs with a blanket but it was so good to just immerse myself in the beauty around me.
I did comment that I thought I looked like an invalid…..then we both laughed because I guess while I recuperate I am somewhat of an invalid! After a rocky couple of days the description fit. I felt rather like those dead looking branches in the photo. On the upside…..those branches are just biding their time to bud out in lush green leaves. I am taking heart from that fact!
Short post today and just going to share a few of the beautiful things I saw today. Unfortunately it is hard, for me, to accurately capture the beauty of the outdoors.
I had to include a picture of the girls. My husband and I really laughed today. We were sitting in our living room watching the news when suddenly a chicken head appeared peering into our window. It didn’t take long for her to take off running. We wondered if she was spreading the news that Chicken Grandma was still alive……. so not to worry!
I am going to leave you with one last picture of a plant that I have had for years. It only blooms once a year and so is a wonderful treat. The blooms are lush and truly another beautiful thing.
May your weekend be blessed. May you open your eyes to the beauty around you. When things look dark and bleak may that beauty be an unexpected blessing to you. And for my friends who celebrate St. Patty’s Day I leave you with this:
May The Road
Rise Up To Meet You
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
(traditional gaelic blessing)

Y’know .. after each post you make and I read, I always end up saying the same thing: “Oh I do love you Chicken.” … because you bring about a warmth and comfortable settled feeling inside my heart. It’s like sitting with someone you can just be yourself with. Such a truly wonderful feeling Chicken.
Love these photographs, and the whole post. It’s so lovely to hear from you.
Sending you love and squidges, and praying for everything to be back to normal as soon as possible. ~ Cobs. x ❤

I popped over to see Beverly on her blog as she’d made a very short post that was a cry for help. She couldn’t seem to post comments on anyone’s blog …. so I posted a chatty comment and it seems to have done the trick. She can now post. However … she asked me to give you the comment because she thought you were having problems too …. so here it is … in full.:-
Ok…. I think I might be able to solve the problem… (fingers crossed).
WordPress have done some little changes and now … you HAVE to click on the title of the post (at the top of the post you’re about to read or have read) so that it takes you into the actual post itself. THEN … you will be able to comment.
On my blog (not sure about others, or even if it’s still the same now that W.Press have done changes) … but in order to make the first comment you have to move your cursor over to the right of the TITLE of the post.
There you’ll see a little pale grey speech bubble. You have (or had, if it’s now changed) to click on that speech bubble in order to make the first comment or some read the comments.
So summing up ….
Try clicking on the actual title of the post you’re reading or want to read. That opens the page up …. and the comments should be there too.
Hope that helps. xxx ~ C. xxx
BACK TO ME NOW ….
I told her that I thought you might have sorted the problem out as you’d posted on my blog, but I promised that I would come and tell you, as she asked.
So I have. 😀
…. cause I’m a good girl, I is. 🙂 🙂 🙂 LOL ~ Cobs. x

Okay……you are the official wordpress guru :). How about this one? I have one gal I follow that when I see her comment under the little bell thingy in the upper right hand corner…….I can click on it but it will not open it up so I can respond. Any fix for that? It works for everyone else just not her blog. big sigh. (I am not sure that all even will make sense to you.)

It makes sense.
The only thing I can think of is try clicking on the little speech bubble which is just over the picture of her, or the picture she uses for her blog (like the white C on a black background that I use). If you click on that speech bubble, see if that opens up for you to see the comment in full, and also reply to the comment.
Failing that …
If it’s YOUR blog she’s commenting on, then go to ‘My Site’ which is up in the left corner (right at the top in the corner), and click on it.
A window will open up. Scroll to the bottom of that window and click on ‘WP Admin’.
A new page will load, with a dark grey bar running down the page, on the left.
Click on ‘Comments’ (it will have a little white speech bubble next to it).
From there you’ll be able to find her comment and ‘approve’, and ‘reply’.
(You can do this method for all your comments. Oh … and while you’re there check your Spam Folder – you’ll find that along the top of the pale blue section – along the top of that page.
It will say ‘All’. ‘Pending’. ‘Approved’. ‘Spam’ … etc etc etc.
If you have any ‘spam’ DON’T CLICK ON THEM! Don’t approve them. But just check to see if any of them look like they could be ‘real’ comments. But don’t click on any of them and don’t approve them, and DON’T CLICK ON ANY OF THE LINKS.
You can delete any you can clearly see are spam.
But if you find one (or more) that you aren’t sure about … come back to me and I’ll tell you how to deal with those.
Now back to the blog of the lady who’s comments won’t open….
If there is a comment she’s made on her blog which you want to answer …. then if you’ve tried the clicking of the speech bubble to see if it will open and it doesn’t … then you’re going to have to (sadly) go tp her blog to comment.
If however, there isn’t a speech bubble in that little circle on her picture …. but you see a star… then that’s just a notification that she’s clicked to ‘Like’ something, and you need to read what she’s liked – by reading the explanation next to the picture of her.
Right … I’ve given you lots of homework. LOLOL.
No seriously … try these thing one at a time and see if they work for you.
But remember … DON’T CLICK ON ANYTHING IN YOUR SPAM FOLDER, unless it’s the delete button. You can click on that and delete spam.
Oodles of love and squishy stuff ~ Cobs. x

your clivia ….is that the name ….is beautiful .Not sure what it is called or how to spell it but it is outstanding. Speaking of outstanding….as soon as you can and be comfortable get outside and do some grounding. Bare feet on good ole earth is the best for health and well being. Just don’t follow the girls . LOL One of the advantages of being a farm girl is being able to enjoy all of Gods creation even in the cold dead of winter. Just knowing Spring is as sure as morning makes life worth all the effort. So glad you are up and about.

That is exactly what that plant is and isn’t it gorgeous? I cannot wait to dig my bare feet in my garden soil! I do lock the girls out of the backyard in the summer so I have a spot to “safely” walk barefoot.

I see your tree in the picture! I imagine that you really like your deck…I would like to add one to the house at the farm. I am so glad that you were able to get out in the sunshine even with the chilly air. Lar sounds like an excellent caregiver! That is so funny about the chicken peeking in to check on their Grandma! I can see a picture of her looking back and forth until she spotted you! I’ve missed talking to you this week and have thought about how you are doing several times a day!

Hi Faye! You did a great job of catching the beauty of outdoors in pictures and in text. I am sadden to read you are in a healing place–but happy. It means I am behind in your life. I am going to catch up on you and my other blogging friends. Hugs! Feel better soon…sounds like you are. Hug that great big man of a man of yours!

I have a great news…just haven’t decided how to write it up yet. For you to know: I have my first client as a student counselor…before practicum before internship! I am overwhelmed, in awe…I cried for 2 days straight. Faculty Advisor called me outta the blue and asked if I would….case file and set schedule already. First session next week. Can you believe it?? I can’t!! How do I write this hugeness with clarity and genuineness?? I am excitedly nervous.

You are so welcome Naomi. It is always a question of how much does a person share of what is in their life at any given time. I figured it might help someone else to know that life can get a little “odd” and still be okay :).

Faye,
I loved your post and am grateful that you could write and take pictures even while recuperating. The browns and grey look a little dreary but the contrast the white snow provides is good. Also the girls seem to be having a great pecking time. And they did check on their mom too, at least the scout one did, which is nice.
Does your husband cook too ? You are blessed Faye. Now is the time to take it easy and to take time to smell the roses, as they say.
I had two surgeries to my abdomen too but most of the time I ended up standing by the stove and cooking for the family with the pain and all. It helped in my recuperation to stand up though. 🙂
The message that you brought and saw through the bleary scene is great and it inspired me to read the post a second time, a few hours later so I could understand better.

Thank you so much Susie! I had a couple rocky days this past week and it was just so good to find that small bit of beauty in the dreary.
I had freezer meals prepared prior to my surgery so my husband heats them up.
It is good to get up and walk around and I try make sure to do that. I am also starting to do those things that I am not restricted from doing. It seems like I am tired all the time but I hear that is normal.
Two surgeries!!! I cannot imagine. I thought one was bad enough.

And a third time of rest when I got scalded from hot water- that was very painful and restrictive.

There is beauty in everything, sometimes we just have to look harder. You’re right, those bare trees will soon have buds on them. I’ve been noticing them more and more and am so excited about it. I bet you’re right about the girls, they sent one to peek in on you to make sure you were ok, that’s so funny!! I hope this finds you feeling better every day!! How sweet of your husband to setup a spot for you to sit and enjoy the sun, even in the chilly weather. Be well and better!! xo

My husband loves the outdoors and anytime he can “share” it he loves it! He even put my chair where I was close to the girls the other day. That made me laugh but it was kind of nice.
